Dr. Aaron D. Lewis: “Good health is an innate right for all humanity”

“Good health is not a cultural experience. It is an innate right for all humanity,” says ministry founder and best-selling author Dr. Aaron D. Lewis.

According to the World Health Organization, micronutrient deficiencies, such as the lack of vitamin A, iron, iodine, and zinc, have put more than two billion people around the world at risk. Among children under the age of five in the third world, malnutrition contributes to 53 percent of deaths associated with infectious diseases. Malnutrition compromises the immune system, thus escalating the frequency, severity, and duration of childhood illnesses. Micronutrient deficiencies also impair intellectual growth, personal development, and adult productivity.

As stable health should not be based on any geographic, cultural, or political category, achievement of such condition must be equal to everyone, to every nation. It’s been a right since birth, and people are supposed to have fair access to nutritious food, a clean environment, and decent medical facilities. Dr. Aaron D. Lewis is among those who agree that while many high-quality health care facilities are available today, there are still many people who could hardly benefit from these services due to socio-economic constraints.

The World Health Organization has defined global health as “the area of study, research and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equityin health for all people worldwide.” Hence, global health is not just about the worldwide enhancement of physical condition, but also the reduction of disparities between countries and protection against global threats that ignores national borders.
